Since we have now made it into 2018 and Christmas and New Year have well and truly passed, I do somewhat apologise for this blog post as it has slightly missed its mark. I also promise that I will start a blog post in some way other than with an apology sometime soon!
Although the severe neglect I have shown my blog in the past few weeks seems to be getting worse, I promise you I am about to (fingers crossed) make an attempt at some sort of redemption. Since I was too busy selling cheese this bank holiday weekend, which gave me the perfect opportunity to bask in the unusually warm British sunshine, I didn’t manage to get a post out. But, yet again, I’m sure you’ll forgive me, mainly because you don’t have much choice! I therefore offer you the first of not one, but two posts this week; you can’t say I don’t spoil you!
As a continuation of my ‘less refined sugar health kick’, this week I have some ‘healthy’ orange, date and walnut biscuits to offer you. And yes, I did mainly use this recipe as a way of using up the massive pot of Stevia I now have in my larder after making my rhubarb, spelt and pecan crumble for my last post.
Happy Easter everybody! I hope you have all had a good day while I have admittedly been at work (no jealousy whatsoever), eaten lots of chocolate and enjoyed a good Sunday roast. And, just in case you haven’t eaten enough, I now have my recipe for my crunchy easter rocky road to offer. Being modest as per, I have to admit that these could single-handedly be the cause a few extra stones, and a few extra dress sizes, on my behalf at least. Therefore proceed with caution.
This week on the blog I thought I would give you a welcome, or unwelcome, reminder that the countdown to Valentine’s day has properly begun. Although it is a bit of a Marmite holiday I decided that, if nothing else, it is a great excuse for baking. Whether you’re baking for a loved one or comfort eating your single status away, these cookies are pretty much perfect in either instance.
Although I have been trying to get into the habit of posting on a Sunday, there are two main reasons for my spontaneous midweek blog post. Firstly, it’s Halloween so I have to post something naughty after my slightly healthier offering of Pumpkin and Coconut Granola. Being a baking blog I feel it is only right that I pay homage at least once over the next 10 or so weeks to the Great British Bake Off. For the last couple of years I have tried, and failed, to follow it. Since I fully expect to fail again this year even with my blog I have decided to have a go at the odd challenge and see how I get on. In these previous attempts I have also been faced with a varying degree of success. I have definitely had some pretty good bakes that would have seen me through on some occasions, but I have also had some that would have left me a long, long way from the Hollywood handshake.
