Carrying on with the Italian theme from last weeks Lemon and Rosemary Cannoli, this week I am trying tiramisu brownies. While this version does unfortunately cut out the booze, I would still advise that, if you are on a diet, I would probably give this recipe a miss!
Since I haven’t written one in a while, I thought this Sunday I would try my hand at another review and treat myself to something I haven’t baked: at the end of the day it’s probably nicer! While it does lack the sense of achievement that some of recipes have managed to produce, it definitely starts to fill that GBBO hole that is already forming as I prepare to get all Paul Hollywood up in here (bar that stare thing he likes to do.)
Even though the review section of my blog was supposed to feature on a bi-weekly basis, the temptation to make chocolate, coconut and lime cupcakes last week was just two strong! (Blame national cupcake week). So this week I instead decided to use it as an excuse to drag my Mum to one of my favourite cafes in Newcastle and really show the diet where to go!
Now it is safe to say we are firmly in Autumn, I feel it is finally acceptable for me to post something using our very own home grown apples. I know what you’re thinking, especially if you’re Miranda Priestley: Apples, in autumn? Groundbreaking. But, The Devil Wears Prada references aside, I have had my beady eye on those apples since they appeared. So now they’re finally ripe enough and the nagging from my dad to do something with them before the birds do has begun, I feel like the day has finally come.
