While the Florentine flapjacks and the ‘healthy’ pear and almond loaf were pretty tasty, I have to admit that they weren’t the most demanding bakes I have ever attempted. Therefore I decided to try something a little more complex this week and remind myself yet again that I do have some baking skill.
When reading this post I have to admit I would forgive you for thinking I was lacking a bit on the imagination front: while dark chocolate and raspberry is a delicious flavour combo, it isn’t actually anything new. But you know the saying, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
Even after the chocolate and marshmallow birthday cake I posted for Lauren’s birthday a couple of weeks ago, I am taking the risk of being repetitive and posting yet another chocolate cake. But this time, it’s covered in Brownie (cue the drool).
After my recent attempts at some slightly more complicated recipes, I decided this week I would give myself a little bit of respite and revisit my absolute go-to, traybakes. However, unlike with my honeycomb and chocolate cheesecake, I thought I would make some attempts to stick with the healthier theme.
After my post for ghostie macarons on Wednesday, I thought I would pay homage to this autumnal time of year through my dark chocolate and apple babka. Anyone who knows me knows I get slightly excited over the apple tree in our garden, but a slightly too liberal trimming last year meant not a lot of the stuff this year. However, this didn’t stop me from salvaging the few that I could, nor will it stop me from recycling old photos as a slightly sad and lame form of nostalgic reminiscing.
So after dedicating bakes to holidays such as Christmas, New Years and Easter, I feel it is only fair that Halloween gets a turn. This time I’m also being proactive: by launching the post before the actual day, you might actually get a chance to try them out! (and let me know if you do, I’m keen to see what you think of this recipe!)
If you happened to read my first every blog post for turkish delight cupcakes way back at the end of September 2015, you will know that I have promised to post whatever bake I have chosen to tackle, regardless of how it goes. So far I have stuck to that promise and unfortunately, in this instance, I will be sticking to it again.
