After about a year of consistent blogging you have probably noticed most of my recipes are not largely aimed at healthy eating and lean to the more indulgent end of afternoon snacking. Apart from a few posts, including my healthier honey gingerbread and my beetroot brownies, a lot of my posts definitely warrant the #howtogetfat on my instagram. However, since I am running a tough mudder in about a month’s time (which I promise not to bore you with/ bring up too much), I thought a few slightly more nutritious offerings, if you will, wouldn’t go amiss.
Since I feel like it has been a while since I whined about how many extra times I had to go to the gym largely as a result of my blog (approximately since my chilli beetroot brownies is my guess), I thought I would try another recipe that would perhaps stave it off for a little longer.
In my opinion, Lady’s Kiss isn’t the most appealing name for a biscuit. For me, it places somewhere on the dodgy/ slightly seedy spectrum and this certainly isn’t helped by the description in Coffee Time Treats: ‘Ladies’ kisses cookies have a delicious texture and an exquisite lingering flavour- just like the loveliest kind of kiss should have’. However, each to their own, and I suppose an exquisite lingering flavour is better than one after a few pints and jaeger bombs down the Bigg Market on a Saturday night. So why not give them a shot? Although I have been trying to get into the habit of posting on a Sunday, there are two main reasons for my spontaneous midweek blog post. Firstly, it’s Halloween so I have to post something naughty after my slightly healthier offering of Pumpkin and Coconut Granola. Secondly, I barely made a dint in my roasted pumpkin (and I only prepped half) so why not use it as an excuse for extra baking! Continue reading “Oaty Pumpkin Cookies”
Even after having spent nearly half a year living in the alps where I ate more than my body weight several times over in reblochon, tomme, and fresh baguettes, I have to admit I had never come across Pain de Savoie. I also have to admit that I wish I had; it is basically a cross between tartiflette and fondue, so in my eyes it can’t really get much better. And, to top it all of, it kind of looks like a cake!
