After a couple of weeks of wussing out a little bit with some easy bakes, I finally decided to take things up a notch. In my opinion if it was on GBBO it requires at least some skill, so I’m standing firmly by this in an attempt to prove I do still have some baking skill.

Coffee and Honeycomb Cake @ Mason & Rye
Since I haven’t written one in a while, I thought this Sunday I would try my hand at another review and treat myself to something I haven’t baked: at the end of the day it’s probably nicer! While it does lack the sense of achievement that some of recipes have managed to produce, it definitely starts to fill that GBBO hole that is already forming as I prepare to get all Paul Hollywood up in here (bar that stare thing he likes to do.)

Even though the review section of my blog was supposed to feature on a bi-weekly basis, the temptation to make chocolate, coconut and lime cupcakes last week was just two strong! (Blame national cupcake week). So this week I instead decided to use it as an excuse to drag my Mum to one of my favourite cafes in Newcastle and really show the diet where to go!
