Stollen Cookies

Since we have now made it into 2018 and Christmas and New Year have well and truly passed, I do somewhat apologise for this blog post as it has slightly missed its mark. I also promise that I will start a blog post in some way other than with an apology sometime soon!

Hazelnut and Salted Caramel Pavlova

So first things first happy new year everyone! Now we can all happily wave goodbye to 2016 with a general sigh of relief and look towards a hopeful 2017 with it’s first few sober and sweaty months at the gym until we all discover wine and chocolate again. Let’s face it, it’s going to happen, and I will be here with my blog helping you all fail along the way (cue evil laugh). But on a more positive note, I hope you all had a wonderful new years eve (and I do wish you luck really). Anyway, back to the baking…

Chocolate and Cherry Semi-Naked Cake

Although I hate to tell you this, I have to admit that I lied slightly in my post for Mince Pie Swirls: I may have had all my blog posts planned, but not all of them were Christmas themed as I promised. Mince Pie Swirls

So in case you haven’t noticed (although you probably did months ago when every shop decided it was acceptable to bring Buble back) it’s getting pretty close to Christmas. However I have decided to stand out from the crowd and (drum roll please) post Christmas recipes for the whole of December! I’m not normally a huge Christmas person as I only tend to start thinking about it a week or so before and while this is true in most cases this year, I must admit it is hard not to get excited about the food! Although nothing can really beat Christmas dinner, you can never underestimate a good Christmas cake or, in this case, mince pie.

Marmite and Cheddar Grissini

Before the dreaded onslaught of Christmas which, let’s face it, has already started I thought I would throw in a token savoury blog post. Since they are few and far between I have to admit that this will probably be the last of the year (*I’ve planned the rest of my posts: they are). My decision to be scarily organised with my posts is a rather harrowing reminder of how quickly this year has gone even though 2016 hasn’t exactly been filled with sunshine and rainbows! Either way, however, I decided I had to make my last savoury post something pretty good and using Marmite was an obvious choice in this household.

Blueberry Kir Royale Cupcakes

If you read my blog posts you will probably have noticed that, aside from baking, I also talk a lot about drinking! Since I am a Geordie lass this isn’t probably that surprising, but since my effort pales when compared with the likes of Geordie Shore I thought this time I would approach alcohol in a way that dodges the hangovers and accommodates my comparably tame attempts at drinking.
